Single Recipe                                             Triple Recipe

 

3 cups flour                                                9 cups flour

1 pkg dry yeast                                          3 pkgs dry yeast

(or 1 oz fresh yeast)                                   (or 2 oz fresh yeast)

1-1/3 cup warm water                               4 cups warm water

2 tsp salt                                                     2 tbs salt

1 tsp sugar                                                 2 tsp sugar

 

Mix yeast, in warm water with sugar.  Proof.

Mix flour and salt.

Add flour mixture to yeast mixture and mix well. (should be moist and sticky)

 

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 2 hours.

Punch down and let rise another 1 to 1 ½  hours.

Fry in deep fat until golden brown.

Drain on paper towels.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar or salt.
